What is TLIF Surgery

Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) is a spinal fusion procedure used to treat certain conditions affecting the lower back, including spinal instability, degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, and persistent nerve compression. Dr. Utkarsh Agrawal, Consultant Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon, evaluates each patient to determine whether TLIF is appropriate. During the procedure, the affected disc is removed and replaced with an implant to help restore spinal stability. Screws and rods may be used to support fusion between the vertebrae. TLIF aims to reduce pain, relieve nerve pressure, and improve spinal stability. Appropriate post-operative rehabilitation and follow-up care support recovery and a gradual return to normal activities.
